STATEMENT OF INTEREST
My favorite piece of art is a building. Right in the middle of my city stands Austin by Ellsworth Kelly. I love this piece because every part of it is art. From the marble it was carved from, to the windows to the shadows inside. Ellsworth thought carefully about everything in Austin. It is a homage to architecture, a work of art and a work of engineering.
I want to pursue architecture because it is the combination of everything that I love, art and engineering. Art has been my favorite class for years. Every year as school gets hard I always have art to fall back on. Art always excites me, I feel compelled to pursue my ideas, even when they aren’t rushing out of me. Engineering is something else that excites me. I love to explore how things work, and engineering allows me to explore that. I get to make my own circuits and models, which helps me see how everything around me works. Architecture is the intersection of art and engineering. I would be able to continue to be artistic and be able to create things. I want to be able to create something that is beautiful and structural. I want to be able to create my own Austin.
